PEDIGREE HIGHLIGHTS
The sire of this embryo is the BWP approved stallion Riesling van de Gaathoeve (°2017), a descendant of the well-bred ‘van de Padenborre’ BWP lineage 21. The trajectory that this stallion has taken so far is impressive. As a four-year-old he did not make a single mistake. In the five-year-olds he remained faultless in all competitions he participated in and finished in 4th place in the final of the stallion competition. In 2024 he won the final of the BvB for 7-year-olds and finished 8th at the World Championship in Lanaken. Pieter Kenis, who has ridden Riesling since his approval as a stallion, is full of praise: “Riesling meets the modern requirements of the sport. He is a smart, careful and very modern horse with sufficient sharpness and a lot of scope. He is easy to ride and thinks along in the course.”
The dam of the embryo, Vendetta Dwerse Hagen, was sold in 2021 during the BWP Elite Foal Auction. She is by Pegase van ’t Ruytershof, a BWP elite stallion who performs at international 1m50 to 1m55 level under the saddle of Jeroen De Winter. Vendetta’s granddam is the renowned Cadjanine, who excelled at the highest level in partnership with Rodrigo Pessoa, Grégory Wathelet, Constant Van Paesschen and Patrik Spits. Cadjanine won a World Cup class in Wellington, won silver in the Nations Cup final in Barcelona, ranked 4th in the 5* GP in La Baule and took part in the Olympic Games in London. Other top showjumpers belonging to this traditionally Hanoverian lineage are Sandokan B, Flavius, Waliba VDL, Congo and Domlerche 3.
